It’s the console, dammit. It’s all good vibes emphasising the importance of console gaming, with the Playstation 4 as the most powerful console, and the Switch as the most innovative. However, there are a few things that need addressing, and they are highlighted in our list of the best console games of all time. There are (of course) a huge amount of great games on different console platforms, and the list of console games that are best represented by console is here. With the likes of Deus Ex, Fallout 4, and The Witcher 3 being triple-A games on both platforms, it’s easy to see why the console games are so popular. And yet, with the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X, it feels like the console games are getting this treatment. There are a couple of stand-out games that make the list, and we have to admit that we’d love to see more games to look at with the next-gen releases. But there are some games that are just plain better on console. It’s the first-person RPG that is simply a pleasure to play, and it’s a genre that we have long been longing for on consoles. A sprawling space game with stunning visuals and an art style that is purely awe-inspiring, No Man’s Sky has been one of our most anticipated games of E3 2019. It’s been one of our most anticipated games at E3 this year, and we can’t wait to dive into its vast expanse of space and dive into its endless beauty. It’s also a game that has surprised us at the time of its release. The trailer for its launch in July revealed a bold new sci-fi setting, which turned out to be a bit of a letdown after the flamboyant main character, Isaac, looked more like a grumpy, space captain from Star Trek than a suit from Star Trek.
