They include a retro remake of the original Bomberman, the SNES remake of Super Metroid, and a new NES game called Pipe Dream. We’ve got more news on all of them as we get it. The first new game in the series since Bomberman R, Bomberman R is one of the Bomberman series’ sort-of revival efforts. It’s sort of a 2D/3D mashup between Bomberman and Bomberman X, but with Bomberman R’s focus on vertical gameplay, and Bomberman X’s blocky aesthetic. You can see that in the trailer below. Bomberman R includes Bomberman R’s light-on-ground mode, as well as Bomberman X’s vertical gameplay, and Bomberman X features a more modern take on Bomberman. As for Bomberman R, Bomberman R is a more traditional Bomberman game, with Bomberman R’s light-on-ground mode and Bomberman R’s vertical gameplay. It’s definitely a different beast to Bomberman X, but we’ll have to see how it actually works out. The new NES game, Pipe Dream, is a delightful little platformer geared towards children. It’s a 2D platformer with a nice, whimsical art style and a rather marvellous world to explore. It’s set in a ‘dream-like’ world that’s filled with adorable characters and a black void to jump into. It’s one of the few 8-bit platformers released so far in the current console generation, but there’s still no release date on it. A new game called Super Mario Odyssey, is another 3D platformer from Rare that’s being developed Konami’s studio, Rarebit. It’s a 2D platformer with a different ‘world’ full of ‘uncanny valley’ effects that see you traverse the world in first-person, as opposed to the more standard third-person perspective. It’s due out this year, so you’ll want to be quick. Dead Cells, the first game from the studio that’s since the studio behind the punishing Animal Crossing series, is a 4-player co-op game that sees you swapping between a number of colourful characters in a prison. It’s a new, experimental way of playing the game, and we’re really impressed. A new action game set in the world of The Witcher, this one’s a top-down action game called Wit. It’s due out this spring, and it’s a side-scrolling action game that sees you performing various wits and spells to take out legions of monsters invading the world from various angles. It’s not clear yet whether it’ll be a full release or whether it’s a timed exclusive. Fable: The Journey, the first RPG from Square Enix, is coming to Xbox Game Pass on March 6. It’s a 4-player action RPG where you play as a newly-made boy, who has to navigate the world of Albion and free the Queen of the World from the control of the wicked Redbeet. It’s apparently already in early access, so you should expect it to be fully playable soon. The latest game from Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall and Apex Legends, is called Dyad. It’s a 4-player co-op action game, featuring a new hero who can control two brothers in combat. It’s already out in Early Access on PC and will be coming later in 2020. A new, intriguing puzzle game called Dark Void, was announced today, as was a new, free-to-play card game called Gontrump. It’s set in a world that is constantly evolving, with new creatures and locations to discover and the constant threat of death from the void. It features a combat system that has you unleashing and reaping damage against your enemies, with lots of manoeuvres that will change the way you attack your enemies and the terrain that they strike. It’s being developed by the same team behind the punishing card game Gontrump, so it’s an exciting prospect. Developer: The Sinking City Format: PC, PS4, Xbox One It’s hard to know what to make of this one just now, but it’s so utterly enticing that we have to know more. The city of Shunghaw, where the game takes place, has been dragged down by a catastrophic flood and it’s up to you to guide a ragtag group of survivors to safety in the midst of a crumbling skyscraper.
