It’s just you and your character and another character who are here to kill you and stuff. And you don’t know who’s there, and you’re not going after their codexes. So we’re just trying to keep it clear that you’re not just fighting for your life – you’re fighting for your life against them.” “There’s a clear, unifying, overarching story here,” says Feuille. “It’s not like you’re not fighting on different sides. There are multiple characters, of course, and you’re not just fighting them. You’re fighting them and you’re fighting them, and they’re [gruff men] and they’re a different kind of guy, and they’re very different but they’re still men. So there’s definitely a story arc, which is the opposite of what you see in the first game, where you fight in this kind of situation, and then you fight against them and they end up killing you. So that’s kind of a touch, and there are different ways to deal with this, and we’re going to do some exploring in that part.” The Darksiders fans will recognise one particular flavour: The Huntress. This buffed character, fan favourite Angela Ziegler (better known as the Chaos Witch), is introduced in the first Darksiders as a member of your party, but you’ll have to fight her out of your way. She’s clearly quite powerful, too, with a great deal of customization – and so long as you’re not one of the X-Men or Fantastic Four, you’ll be able to customise her, to make her exactly what you want her to be. A great example is the fact that you can make a female character who will be more powerful than the male one. You can even make the male character stronger. The female Darksiders are great to play as, too, with different character classes being available, including a Nightwolf, a Deathwatchman, a thief, and a Fireflight. “A lot of this is about exploring what we could do for the game without completely changing the experience,” says Feuille. “So it’s not like we’re going to make it more linear. We’re going to do more quests, more story, different missions, and you will see different versions of them. We were some of the biggest fans of the original Darksiders, so if you want to see a different version of what’s happening, there are missions that are just as important to them as those that are going to the same audience.” One example of the different branches you can take is the quest for the High Queen. This is actually a mission for the High Queen – it’s a mission called The Hunter, which is unlocked at the end of the game. You actually have to fight your way through the High Queen’s fortress – it’s a very long journey overall. You will also find a mission called The Hunter, which is actually a quest for a certain NPC, the High Queen. You actually have to fight your way through the High Queen’s base. Actually, you’ll actually be able to fight your way through the High Queen’s base and then take her out. So yeah – you will see different versions of the High Queen.” “We’re going to do more quests,” says Feuille. “I’m excited.” You’ll be able to expand your settlements with some of these additions too. As well as the ability to build and customise your dwelling, you’ll also be able to access the main story quest, the High Queen’s quest, and finally the main quest. These quests will be around three hours long, so you can get your fix of the day-to-day life. “We’re going to do more quests,” says Feuille. “I’m excited.” You’ll be able to customise your dwelling with some of these additions too. As well as new rooms and windows with custom designs, you’ll be able to expand your feng shui (fishing spots) and add some more rooms in your settlement. You will also be able to craft new clothing for your survivor, so you can dress them up however you please.
